JOHN TURNBULL RETIRING FROM THE INDUSTRY

Former CMAA Federal Executive member, Nepean Zone President, CMAA Hall of Fame recipient and Industry stalwart, John Turnbull hangs up his boots this July 2020.

John commenced with Liverpool Catholic Club on 6 April 1984 completing over 36 years of service with the Club. When he arrived, the Club had only been trading for 4 or 5 years, had 27 gaming machines and sat on 7 acres of land. Quite the contrast to where the Club is today.

John had set his retirement date based on the following milestones:

  • Achieving his 36 years of service with the Liverpool Catholic Club.
  • Making it past his 75th birthday on 25th
  • Seeing the recently completed Club refurbishment work through.

Prior to Liverpool Catholic Club, John had worked as Secretary General Manager at Sydney Rowing Club, owned a Hotel, Secretary General Manager at East Rugby Union Club and been School Sargent at Newington College.

John is now settling down with his passion for gardening, and family life which includes 4 grandchildren to keep him on his toes. I’m sure however we may still see John pop up at a zone meeting to keep in touch with industry mates.

We wish John all the best, congratulate and thank him for his years of support and service to both the CMAA and the Club Industry as a whole.
